For several years Dr. Davis and VVA have supported the Delaware Valley Humane Society (DVHS) by providing various services, including reduced rate (or free) spay/neuter and other medical & surgical procedures. Additionally, they make a monthly donation to DVHS in memory of companion animals lost to illness, injury, or age. We are revamping our dog training classes for the fall. Which would be of the most help to you – training classes for puppies (under 6 mo.) or training classes for dogs over 6 months old. If you’d like to weigh in on the question, you can go to our Facebook page and reply to the poll. Thanks!

This is ‘Codie’. He is a 1-yr old Yorkie-Poo that needs a home. Cody has been neutered, and is up to date on vaccines. We also did a complete shave, to alleviate severe matting.

He has had a stressful time recently, and exhibits some nervousness, which sometimes leads him to be nippy. But he does like people once he has had some time with them. He may not be the best choice for a household with young children, since they can increase his stress level.

He seems to be fine with other animals, but if you have other animals in your home, we would want a ‘meet-and-greet’ to make sure they will get along. And remember, your other animals will need to be up-to-date with vaccines before adopting Codie.

We will be closing at 4pm on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018. Small animal emergencies will be handled by Community Vet. Center, and large animal emergencies by Dr. Chris Camann. Our answering service will be active at 607-563-1345. They can direct you.

The NYS Dept. of Agriculture and Markets has confirmed that the Aug. 9th death of a horse in Oswego County resulted from Eastern Equine Encephalitis(EEE). This is the first confirmed case of EEE in New York State in 2018. There was no medical record of the horse’s vaccination status, as the owner was supposedly vaccinating his own horses.

Arboviruses for both West Nile Fever and EEE are found throughout NY state. Please take all necessary precautions to protect your animals this season, including keeping them current on vaccinations.
